Georgia mergers and acquisitions: NYSE Euronext to merge with ICE

A Georgia based company is breaking into hallowed ground. IntercontinentalExchange Inc., or ICE, has agreed to pay approximately $8.2 billion to NYSE Euronext, or NYX. As mergers and acquisitions go, if this one is approved, it will make history. Two other companies have tried to purchase NYX, but both efforts were blocked by regulators.

While the recent election season was going on, many entrepreneurs were cautious about making any significant moves. However, now that the election is over, some people are reporting that more entrepreneurs are making the jump to start up their new businesses. A popular business opportunity that seems to be attracting entrepreneurs is franchise agreements. One entrepreneur from Georgia is now working toward attracting more entrepreneurs to open franchises of his fitness company.

When it comes to wages union workers should have few complaints

Michigan's decision to join the ranks of right-to-work states has brought the issue of union versus non-union wage scales back into the public forum. Employers struggling to keep their business on an even keel and possibly add workers are facing pressure from increasingly activist unions intent on building membership. Some new information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that union workers do far better than non-union workers in several important occupations.

Will Georgia entrepreneurs have tests in business organization?

A large part of starting a business in Georgia is securing the financing to begin. During the business organization process, entrepreneurs may be required to meet with lenders or bankers in order to discuss the plans for the business. A recent report indicates that some of the bankers and lenders associated with starting businesses believe that a simple questionnaire may help determine which entrepreneurs are worth the risk.

Georgia farmers and businessman in contract dispute

A Georgia businessman and developer is the target of a pre-warrant application. The pre-warrant application was filed against the man by a Georgia farmer who appears to be claiming that the man has not honored contracts. News reports suggest the contract dispute isn't just with this one farmer, but rather a large group of farmers in Southwest Georgia.
